Is the mathematics difficult?

No. If you can count to 9, you can perform the trick.

Is there a lot of memorisation?

No! All you need to memorise is the sequence: "8 4 2 1" plus one tiny exception rule.

Does it work every time?

Yes. 100% of the time, you'll know exactly which number they are thinking of.

Is it really the digits of Pi?

The first few digits are correct, but after that, the sequence has been changed to make the trick work. You'll only ever be called out on this by people who have memorised Pi... and they're the people who are probably going to love hearing how this trick works!
